Assistance

Objective

The Knight Township Trustee’s Office is responsible for providing life sustaining financial and in kind assistance to the community’s residents from all walks of life who find themselves in need of temporary help.

In Knight Township, poor relief represents the largest segment of our expended resources, both human and material. State laws clearly define what public aid can be granted and the process to access those services. Services are provided through purchase orders (vouchers) for shelter (rent), utilities (gas, electric, water), food, medical, and burial.

Application Process

Applications for assistance are processed on a first-come-first-served basis between the hours of 8:00 am to 11:00 am and 1:00 pm to 3:00 pm, Monday through Friday, at our office conveniently located at 1116 North Weinbach Avenue.

Since the failure to have all required paperwork present at the time of your appointment may delay the processing of your application, we invite you to review the documents we require by clicking Documents Required under Assistance on the menu above.
